January 2010
The NNECA Board works diligently to serve the clergy of the Episcopal Church. Thanks to technology we are able to meet monthly via teleconference and have two yearly face-to-face meetings—one at the annual meeting and the other in New York. We are always looking for ways to serve you better.
The New York Board meeting was held on January 18-20. The three days were packed with activity. We devoted the first day to visioning process that was facilitated by the Rev Linda Bartholomew. It has been a number of years since this kind of work has been done. Details on our work are on the “About NNECA” section of this website.
Tuesday we visited at the Church Center where various staff members spoke about the many changes that have taken place in the past several months. We learned that much of the work, done in the past on a national level, will be done at the local level by dioceses. However, the national church staff will continue to serve as a resource and support to the dioceses.
Wednesday, the final day of our meeting, was spent at the Church Pension Group office. We were delighted to learn that the Pension Fund is doing well and that plans to implement both the Denominational Health Plan and the lay Pension Plan are moving ahead well. Matthew Price gave us the latest information on trends in clergy compensation, which we plan to place on this website as soon as possible. Several NNECA members sent me questions prior to the NY meeting, which I was able to ask to the appropriate people at CPG.
The primary goal of the NNECA Board is to serve you. We hope that this website will be a primary vehicle to help you know us. I encourage you to contact me or any of the Board members with your comments and concerns. Because we hope to hear from you, our email addresses are on the “Leadership” page of this website.
We also hope to be meeting many of you at the NNECA 40 conference, which will be in May in Pittsburgh. We have a stellar group of keynote speakers plus it will be a great opportunity to connect with old friends. I hope to see you in Pittsburgh!
Blessings.
